Datça is a corner of paradise situated at the point where the Aegean and the Mediterranean seas come together at the southernmost extremity of Turkey and enjoys an unequalled climate. With its fish restaurants, shopping centres and hospital, it is a port town with many yachting visitors. Approx 75 minutes drive from Marmaris on the new road, which is almost finished. Datça is becoming popular with Europeans who are just discovering its beauty and more traditional tourism. From Marmaris, via Hisaronu village along on the Aegean coast lies the lovely picturesque town of Datca. The Datca road twists through the mountains which are filled with forests of olive, pine almond, orange and lemon trees; the views along this coastline are stunning. Surrounded by turquoise waters bays with peaceful small coves and beaches, you will come across friendly traditional Turkish villages and hamlets which add to Datca’s charm. Throughout the summer wooden Gulets and yachts sail these beautiful and calm waters where approx. 7000 yatching tourists arrived in 2005. There is much colourful flora and fauna including the Mediterranean bougainvillaea, oleander and jasmine. Country walks will lead you to fields full of flowers and wild herbs such as rosemary and thyme. Datca is famous for its 0 humidity in the atmosphere so summer temperatures are comfortable with cooling winds. The town is full of unusual shops such as antique shops selling carpets, silverwear and leathergoods. There are plenty of restaurants for good quality dining and of course waterside cafes and bars with marvellous views to the Greek Island of Symi. Datca has a magical atmosphere enticing return visitors year after year. For a change of pace why not visit Bodrum on the daily ferry? There is an hourly dolmus service to Marmaris in summer and the journey time to Dalaman Airport is approx. 2.5 hours.
